The problem is caused by a buildup of dead skin cells and oil on the scalp which can cause itchy scalp and flaking. Fortunately, we've got 3 easy steps you can take to keep your scalp happy, healthy, and itch-free with our itchy scalp treatments.

1. Remove buildup and residue

Itchy scalp and dryness can be caused by too much or too little oil production. Use a clarifying shampoo to clean your scalp, remove dead skin cells, keep your pores clear so dirt doesn't get trapped inside, and remove excess oil from your scalp without stripping away natural oils. A clarifying shampoo with antibacterial ingredients such as tea tree oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil, and witch hazel works well at fighting off bacteria that may be causing irritation on your scalp. Avoid products that contain sulfates, an ingredient usually found in cleansers, shampoos, and conditioners that can cause irritation and dryness on your itchy scalp.

2. Protect, Repair and Regenerate

By using a clarifying shampoo, you can remove some of the buildup that causes itchy scalp. But what about the buildup itself? Buildup makes it difficult to maintain healthy hair growth and can cause breakage and other hair problems. Using a repairing conditioner helps repair and strengthen your hair follicles. It can also help you get rid of dry and flaky scalp by moisturizing your hair follicles and protecting them from moisture loss.

"Your scalp is one of the first places bacteria, yeast, and other harmful microbes are exposed."

This can lead to growth and buildup of these microorganisms on your scalp, resulting in itchy, flaky, or even more severe scalp conditions!

3. Remove impurities and harmful overgrowth

The problem is that most shampoos and rinses designed for dandruff-prone scalps do not directly address this issue. Instead, they just try to remove surface impurities like dirt or dead skin cells from the hair and scalp, which won't help if you have a bacterial or yeast overgrowth problem.

Use a scalp solution that would not only cleanse your scalp of all surface dirt, but also target any possible overgrowth of harmful microbes by using probiotics extracts that would help balance out the right kinds and healthy bacteria in your scalp.
